New President Mary McNaughton (well recycled as it’s a second term of office for Mary!) finally received the Insignia at a lunch in July to celebrate a belated 90th anniversary of Plymouth’s Charter which was in 2020. As with many events, the covid pandemic has disrupted and delayed proceedings but thankfully we managed to meet in person after so many Zoom meetings!
Mary is looking forward to the next 12 months, in particular being able to meet up in person rather than via Zoom.
Mary’s theme for her year is The Planet, or in old speak the Environment. This is particularly apt with the World Summit on climate change being held in Cornwall. The club’s planned tree planting initiative will be one of the ways we will deliver on this objective.
This year sees a change in the way our club works as we move to one meeting a month rather than two, so combining club and supper meetings with an occasional speaker.
Club members will be encouraged to embrace change, with each playing their part as we move into the future together.
