Margaret was inaugurated in April 2017 – shown here with one of our senior members Joan Trethowan – and is full of plans for her year. She is looking forward to forging new links with other clubs, as well as attracting new members to the Plymouth Club.
Some very interesting and diverse speakers have been booked for the supper meetings throughout the year and there is a range of fundraising and social activities planned so it will be a busy year
Meetings are held at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel, Plymouth on the first and third Wednesday of the month. If you would like to attend one of our meetings please ring 01752 774401 for more information.
Early in her term of office, the local Herald newspaper carried a feature article on Margaret which you can view here.
And also a busy volunteer!
Margaret also spends a lot of her time volunteering and was voted Volunteer of the Month for August 2017 for Improving Lives Plymouth.
She was also shortlisted for one of the categories in the inspirational volunteer awards.
Margaret began volunteering for Race for Life and Paralympics 2012 and since seeing boccia (wheelchair bowls) played at the 2012 Paralympics she joined a local Active for All group and now leads weekly boccia and walking sessions in the city. Margaret’s dog Holly joins the walking group and is now their mascot.
Margaret is passionate about supporting people, helping them to build confidence and takes the time to encourage and listen.
